There were some rules in Skool that anyone would surely tell you there were exceptions to. Number one; you can have your cell phone on you at all times, just don't let anyone see it. Number two; if you were going to chuck your lunch, screw the hall pass and just go. And number three; if you were late to Miss Bitters' class, you had every stinking right to sprint down the hall like a lunatic. Dib was making good use of that exception right now, and no one was around to question it. His trench coat flew out behind him as he ran and the less-than-athletic boy was surprised that he wasn't huffing and puffing while he ran. (Although, he easily figured that that was a new trait, thanks to almost daily chases or fights with the local alien.)
Even before he had the classroom door in sight, he was mulling over his excuse in his large head. Dib did have a legitimate reason to be late afterall. It was kind of hard to be on time when there was a ghost in your room that seemed hell bent on checking his email before moving on. Those are the kind of emergencies that just have to be handled no matter what. As important as it was however, Dib knew that it wasn't going to be acceptable to his teacher. In fact, no one was going to believe it. What else was new. Still, at least he was going to be honest.
The rushed kid skidded across the hallway as he attempted to stop at the sharp turn in front of him. A few creative steps prevented him from falling on his face before making his dash down the final stretch of hall. Shortly after, he slid into a quick halt. (To which any other normal child might mentally shout "Safe!" at an attempt of humor. Dib, however, was never fond of sports.) For a moment, the door to Miss Bitters' classroom seemed ominously tall, but that was just the dread of what was to come sinking in. Dib put on a serious face to brace himself not only to face the tower of darkness that taught him the three R's, but also to give Zim the mandatory "First glare of the day" the moment he saw him. Dib wanted to be right on top of the battle today. Again, what else was new?
So, with a bit of a gulp, Dib turned the door knob and walked in, ready for his fate...
