CHARACTER
Name: Dib Membrane
Nicknames: "Big Headed Dib", Agent Mothman, Crazy
Age: 12 yrs
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Student, Agent of the Swollen Eyeball Network, occasional mental patient
Appearance: Dib has the typically height and weight of most boys his age with one big exception; his head's big. It's actually alarmingly big. He'll tell you otherwise, but everybody and their blind grandma notices his big head. His skin is a pale white from hours in from of computer monitors while working on his newest paranormal study. His hair is jet black and shaped quite peculiarly. There are no bangs, but a large lock at the top of his head juts up and angles like a scythe. It's hard to believe that this is natural, but it is. It's also strong enough for Dib to use to slide down a zip line, but I digress. His eyes are hazel and covered with large, round glasses.
As for clothing, Dib remains consistent. He's always seen in black shoes and black pants, with a navy blue t-shirt. On that shirt is a gray face, resembling a smiley-face without the smile and the cheery yellow. Instead, the expression is neutral. Over this he wears a long black trench coat that flows to the backs of his knees. One can only assume that this coat has enough pockets in it to carry his necessary tools. (Alien handcuffs, cloaking devices, ninja gear, just the normal run-of-the-mill supplies.)
Personality: Most people just write Dib off as crazy. They may be right. However, at least he knows what he's talking about. For his entire life, Dib has been fascinated by paranormal studies and has dedicated his time and efforts to it. (Much to the chagrin of everyone around him.) To say he's devoted to his cause is an understatement. Actually, he's obsessed. Everything to him could be a paranormal phenomenon, except for the painfully obvious hoaxes. (Which, unfortunately, everyone tends to fall for.) Once he catches the trail of some alien, vampire, or wolf-kid, there's no shaking him. He follows it to the end or at least until he can reveal them to the world. Maybe then people will stop doubting him or calling him a nutcase. Unfortunately, it hasn't happened yet. Therefore, Dib has earned himself a reputation of crying wolf. Sometimes he did, sometimes he was just unlucky. However, maybe his luck was about to change once a certain green-skinned kid started Skool...
Despite all this lunatic activities, Dib is actually a really smart guy. He tends to stop and think of or notice things that most people overlook. In fact, he usually figures something out sooner than everyone else. (Which isn't saying much, considering the people around him.) Sometimes he's the only one who has some common sense, which is a strange trait for a paranormal investigator to have. And then sometimes he does something outrageously silly. The poor kid doesn't know when to quit. Despite that, he does occasionally have bouts of "Why do I bother?", but they usually only result in him giving up that particular day. Also, Dib is extremely book smart. He's a technical wiz, which comes in handy when fighting alien scum. He's even reprogrammed an alien spacecraft. Being a scientist would actually be a wonderful life choice for him, but that stupid paranormal obsession gets in the way.
Like most kids, Dib has extreme bouts of joy and extreme bouts of anger. He'll be absolutely ecstatic when something of his goes right for once. Tell him you actually believe him and he'll be your knew best friend. On the flipside, nothing enrages Dib more when there's something so painfully obvious right in front of everyone, he's tries to point it out, and ends up getting called insane. Oh, and don't tell him his head's big. He hates that too. ("My head's not big!")
Dib is always trying to save Earth from the Irken invasion, but it's unclear if he's doing it for the wellbeing of human kind or for his own satisfaction. After all, everybody treats him like dirt and catching an alien would open all new doors. However, he always declares his victories for Earth, so maybe he is a good guy. Who knows.
Oh, and Dib sometimes talks to himself. Sometimes meaning a lot. Don't ask why.

Bio: Dib's history is one big mystery to him. As far as he knows, he's just the average kid raised by a single parent with a scary sister. Little does he know, however, that he is actually a result of one of his father's, the renowned Doctor Membrane's, experiments. The doctor actually wanted to try cloning, and what better DNA to use than his own? And that was the birth of Dib. Unfortunately, Doctor Membrane's hopes of having a son/clone just as amazing as he is were scattered once the young boy took interest in paranormal studies. (A/N: This information would've been revealed had the series continued. So, no, I am not pulling this out of nowhere.)
Other than the whole cloning thing, (Which Dib or Gaz were never informed of.) Dib had a normal childhood. Well, there was having a famous, incredibly rich, scientist for a father thing. Oh, and there was his early interest for hunting down the unnatural. You could include his creepy sister too as odd... Okay, so maybe Dib never did have a normal childhood. Still, he grew up with many opportunities open to him. He took the conventional opportunities, threw them out the window, and began his life of paranormal studies. No one really knows why. Dib suspects that he was abducted by aliens at some point, but that's just a theory. He went from toddler to pre-teen chasing down ghosts, werewolves, and everything in between. By the time he was twelve, he had nothing to show for it.
Dib never let this get to him, but the people around him did. With no solid proof of his paranormal experiences, people began to treat him like the boy who cried wolf. Eventually, no one believed his stories. His peers labeled him as crazy. Doctor Membrane referred to him as "my poor insane son,". Gaz treated him like dirt. (Wait, that wasn't anything new. Never mind.) Still, the boy must have had incredible self-esteem, because he never gave up. He always prepared for the day where everything he worked for would add up. Good thing he did.
One night, while Dib was scanning for alien signals from as far as galaxies away, he picked up a transmittance from the Irken Empire. They were coming and it wasn't in peace. At that time, Dib had no idea what he was in for, but he was going to be ready.
Six months later, a strange new green kid named Zim entered his class at Skool. That was the start of Dib being Earth's only hope against the alien invasion.
RP Sample: Dib's fingers flew across the keyboard at supersonic speeds. The computer screen was the only light source in his room, glaring off of his glasses as he focused intently on his work. Sure, he was only logging his recent exploits against the alien scum Zim into the Swollen Eyeball Database, but these things were to be taken seriously. After all, what if he did save the Earth single handedly? The people of Earth would need some kind of documentation. Despite his seemingly noble efforts, Dib's chest swelled with a selfish enthusiasm. He was doing what he did best. He was rambling on about it too at the moment. Poor Gaz had made the poor choice of passing by Dib's room while the door was wide open and he took that chance to drag her into something she could obviously care less about. Dib, of course, was completely oblivious to that fine detail. All that mattered to him right now was bragging to Gaz about his next big scheme to finally defeat Zim. That poor girl.
"So, I figured that if I have a way to hack into Zim's database, why not use it? I mean, until he figures out I'm there, and can get into all of his data, find out what he's up too, and exploit his weaknesses! It's all so simple, but sometimes the best course of action is the simplest! Then, and only then-" It went on and on and on like this. Sometimes he just didn't stop and this was one of those times. You'd think that after growing up with Gaz, he'd realize that chatting her ear off was tempting the Gods of Wrath. He was either really brave or really stupid to be having this monologue without constantly looking over his shoulder to spot an impending attack. Stupidly, he kept his focus on the computer.
"And that's all there is to that! What do you think?" Finally Dib turned around with enthusiasm. However, that little flicker of overwhelming zeal in his eyes was soon exhausted once he realized that Gaz had left the room sometime during his extended rambling. It seemed like he was talking to himself again. Any other time he would've made an unamused quip about his less than wonderful situation here. Right now, he was so high off of the hype of the chase, that wasn't going to bring him down.
"Oh well," he shrugged. His new plans always gave him a rare moment of self-confidence. "She'll thank me when I expose Zim's true identity to everyone," Dib couldn't help but smile at the thought, but the thought was short lived. There was so much left to do. Earth wasn't about to save itself!
